How We Can Help

Seeking a Specific Title

If you're looking for a signed first edition by one of our specialty authors that isn't currently in our eBay store, contact us. We actively source books and may be able to locate what you're looking for.

Authentication Questions

We are happy to discuss our authentication process, our approach to specific authors, or general questions about signature authentication in the rare book market.

Collection Guidance

Building a collection of signed literary first editions is a rewarding pursuit that benefits from informed guidance. We're happy to share our knowledge with collectors at any level.

Press & Media

For press inquiries, interview requests, or media collaborations, please contact us at mail@cervantesrarebooks.com.

Signed Book Appraisal Service

Do you own a signed book and want to know if it is authentic or what it might be worth? We offer informal appraisals for books by the authors in our collection. Here is how the process works:

Photo assessment

Send us clear, well-lit photographs of the book (front cover, spine, dust jacket), the signed page, and any inscriptions. Include a photo of the copyright page so we can identify the edition and printing. We can often provide a preliminary opinion based on photographs alone.

What we evaluate

Our assessment covers authenticity (is the signature genuine?), bibliographic details (edition, printing, publisher), condition (book and dust jacket grade), and approximate market value based on recent comparable sales. For books by our specialty authors, our depth of expertise allows us to provide assessments with a level of confidence that generalist appraisers cannot match.

Selling to us

If your book meets our authentication standards and is by one of our specialty authors, we may be interested in purchasing it. We acquire books through direct purchase and consignment arrangements. Email us with photographs and any provenance information you have, and we will respond within 24 hours during business days.

Questions About Working With Us

How quickly do you respond to inquiries?

We respond to all genuine inquiries within 24 hours during business days. For time-sensitive matters — such as an auction you're considering bidding on and want an authentication opinion — please note the urgency in your subject line and we will prioritize your message. The best way to reach us is by email at mail@cervantesrarebooks.com.

Can I get a signed book appraised for free?

We offer informal photo assessments at no charge for books by the authors in our collection. Send clear, well-lit photographs of the book (front cover, spine, dust jacket), the signed page, and the copyright page to mail@cervantesrarebooks.com. We can typically provide a preliminary authentication opinion and approximate market value based on photographs alone. Physical examination is preferred for definitive authentication of high-value items.

Do you buy signed books from individuals?

Yes — we actively acquire authenticated signed first editions, particularly by our specialty authors. If you have a signed book you'd like to sell, email us with photographs and any provenance information you have. We evaluate each item for authenticity, condition, edition, and market demand. If the book meets our standards, we can purchase it outright or discuss consignment arrangements. We pay fair market prices and respond to all selling inquiries within 24 hours.

Can you help me authenticate a book I'm about to buy from another seller?

We are happy to offer a preliminary opinion if you send us photographs of the signature and relevant bibliographic details. While a definitive authentication requires physical examination, we can often identify obvious forgeries, autopens, or red flags from photographs alone — potentially saving you thousands of dollars. Please note that we can only offer expert opinions on the authors in our collection, as our authentication expertise is specific to those authors.

Do you attend book fairs or have a physical showroom?

We are based in Valencia, Spain, and welcome visitors by appointment. We do not maintain a traditional walk-in showroom, as our books are stored in a purpose-built, climate-controlled facility optimized for preservation rather than retail display. Our primary sales channel is our eBay store. If you would like to examine specific books in person, please contact us to arrange a visit.

What information should I include when contacting you about a specific book?

To help us assist you most effectively, please include: the author and title, the edition and printing (if known), the condition of the book and dust jacket, photographs of the signature page and copyright page, any provenance information (where and when the book was signed), and your specific question (authentication, valuation, interest in purchasing, etc.). The more detail you provide, the more useful our response will be.

A Note on Inquiries

We value thoughtful correspondence and respond to every genuine inquiry. We are collectors ourselves, and we understand the care and seriousness that this pursuit demands.

Please be as specific as possible in your inquiries — the author, title, edition, and any particular requirements you have. The more detail you provide, the more effectively we can assist you.
